Abstract:

The annual report describes recent results of an analytic study of the diffraction of a normal shock wave at ocean interfaces including interfaces resulting from stratification due to density, temperature, and pressure variations. Solutions for shock propagation in non-uniform media have been obtained in both linearized and general nonlinear formulations. The results have been reported in several journal publications and presented at a number of international colloquia during the reporting period July 1, 1970 to September 30, 1971. Author
