Abstract:

The article covers a number of questions related to the phenomenon of damage to metals by laser radiation, in particular the attentuation of radiation incident to the surface being damaged due to its absorption by the damage products, the influence of unevenness of ionization and the population of atomic levels on the absorption of radiation, as well as the conditions under which the expansion of the material from the surface is adiabatic. The entire analysis was performed with a constant radiation flux density between 1 million T. 1 billion wsq.cm, for which the stable thermal mechanism of damage is correct, while the body surface temperature T0 reaches 1,000-10,000 degree K. The material is assumed to fly away from the surface evenly, and counterpressure of the external medium is not considered. Author
