Abstract:

Irradiation experiments on fuel elements for high temperature reactors require as coolant helium recirculated in a high pressure circuit by means of a compressor. The design data for this compressor are characterised by a low mass flow rate of about 600 kgh and a relatively high pressure rise of about 1,3 kgfsquare cm. The pressure level in the circuit is about 101 kgfsquare cm. Because of the limited space available in the reactor for this experiment, the outer diameter of the compressor must not exceed 180 mm.
