Abstract:

The hyperfine interaction of 151Eu in Eu2Ti04 has been measured using the Mossbauer Effect in 151Eu. In this compound, the Eu2 site has four-fold symmetry axially symmetric electric field gradient tensor. Using this property, it has been found that the nuclear quadrupole moment ratio of the first-excited to the ground states of 151Eu is R 1.34 plus or minus 0.03. The observed value of the quadrupole interaction energy is e2qQo 190 plus or minus 7 MHz. Author
