Abstract:

Different types of initial value problems and one moving source problem are considered for a fluid of constant depth and constant Brunt-Vaisala frequency. Two alternate Fourier representations are developed, one appropriate for analysis in terms of transverse propagation of modes, the other appropriate for analysis in terms of three dimensional propagation with reflections from upper and lower surfaces. Asymptotic expansions of these representations are then derived, these representations taking different forms depending upon the nature of the initial data or source. Author
