Abstract:
A computer model which simulates Naval Gunfire Support of Small Independent Action Forces SIAF in an insurgent-contested area is presented. The mechanics of the model are described in sufficient detail to allow understanding by any user with a basic understanding of Naval Gunfire Support and computer simulation techniques. A detailed guide to preparing the input data deck required for simulation of a user-defined problem is included. The problem definition and results of a partial feasibility study of the Seabased Tactical Deterrent Force STDF concept using the simulation model are presented as a means of providing some insight into the feasibility of the STDF concept and as an example of the use of the simulation model.
