Abstract:

High rate physical vapor deposition HRPVD process was used for the synthesis of compounds Y2O3, TiC, Si3N4 by reactive evapoation and their characterization. The oxidation kinetics of Ni-20Cr containing nominally 1 of Y, Gd, or La have been evaluated over the range of 900 to 1200C in static air. The nature of the oxide films formed and the disposition of the rare earth additions have been evaluated by X-ray diffraction and electronmicroprobe analyses.
