Commercial standard preparations of the thyroid hormones, triiodothyronine T3 and thyroxine T4, along with their precursors monoiodotyrosine and diiodotyrosine, were converted to dipivalyl methyl ester and trimethylsilyl derivatives for gas chromatographic analysis. Various liquid phases, inert supports, and column lengths were evaluated for chromatography of these derivatives. Utilizing a hydrogen flame ionization detector, the authors reproducibly analyzed 2 micrograms of T3 and T4. Author
