Abstract:

The suspected spiral galaxy Maffei 2 has been interferometrically observed in the 21 cm line and adjacent continuum using a north-south baseline having a fringe spacing of 6.5 arc min. Velocity resolution was 21 kmsec. Positions of the emission centroids at each velocity allowed determination of the orientation and dynamic parameters of the object and a lower limit to the total mass. The fractional hydrogen content of Maffei 2 is less than .005 D, where D is the distance in Mpc. The continuum source associated with it is shown to be extended. Author
