Abstract:
The critical exponent beta, which discribes the behavior of the magnetization near the critical point was studied for pure nickel and for nickel alloys containing 4.6, 9.3, 14.0, and 18.8 at . copper. Within experimental error, the value of beta 0.34 was obtained for all of these samples. The double values for beta previously reported are shown to arise from an erroneous critical temperature which results from the linear extrapolation technique of Wojtowicz and Rayl. Author
