Abstract:
Consideration of the microstructure of the explosive bond in terms of the generation of vortex periodicity in the wake of the reentrant jet was used to yield a description of the mechanism of formation of the wavy interface. The analogy with aero- and hydrodynamic flows is consistent experimentally with observations in the latter systems in terms of flow patterns and characteristic dimensions. Reynolds numbers characteristic of the various flow regimes in the wake were measured experimentally and used as a quantitative criterion for describing the interface geometry. Thus, the hydrodynamic analogy is developed into a convenient method in practical applications of explosive bonding. Author
