Influence of Chemical Kinetics on Electrical Turbulence.

Theoretical models that predict the influence of chemical kinetics on the spectral distribution and spatial correlations of positive ion concentration fluctuations are developed. Calculations, based on these models, are shown to be consistent with data taken in turbulent clean and potassium-seeded propaneair flames at one atmosphere--in the region where electron-positive ion recombination is the dominant kinetic mechanism. The results show that the ratio of chemical time scale time for ion concentrations to decrease to 1e of their initial value to turbulent time scale eddy break-up time is the key parameter in determining when electron-ion recombination rates influence electrical turbulence.
