Abstract:

Because of its symmetry and uniformity properties, the vertex-set Vd of a d-dimensional cuboctahedron the difference body of a regular d-simplex is useful as an experimental design for the exploration of a response over a sperical region. This paper treats the problem of coordinatizing the containing space or rotating the design so as to minimize the number of levels at which the experimental variables are required to appear. Throughout the range of practical interest, 3-level designs are found for all d3 mod 4, 5-level designs for all dO or 1 mod 4, and 7-level designs for all d2 mod 4. Author
