Abstract:

Optimum metal polymer proportions in polymer disperse steel friction couples are analyzed for minimum wear characteristics. X-ray diffraction is analyzed for couples with phenol-formaldehyde resin, polyethylene, PMMA, and polystyrene. In the absence of polymer, the crystalline block size is larger in the disperse metal. In the presence of polymer very intense particle degradation and high plastic deformation are apparent. Minimum wear is observed with copper PVC-steel couple containing 4 POLYMER.
