Effect of Lubricating-Cooling Fluids and Methods of Using Them on the Dynamics of the Cutting and Scratching Process by an Individual Abrasive Grain,

Pagination or Media Count:
The cutting and scratching of metal surfaces by abrasives in the presence of lubricating and cooling liquids is considered. The forces involved in these processing are considerably affected by seizing or snatching effects between the contigous materials. Cutting forces are reduced when the loose metal particles are carried away from the abrasive, and this process is facilitated not only by the presence of lubricant but by the shaping of the cutting surfaces.
