On the Mechanics of a Deep Submerged Platform Suspended from a Ship by an Elastic Electric Cable.

Statistical and dynamical theory is developed to describe the mechanical behaviour of a heavy body suspended in water from a ship by means of an elastic cable. As is the case with most studies of this nature a particular application was originally envisaged and consequently the development is not completely general. Of interest is the device employed to linearize the intrinsically non-linear boundary condition in the dynamical structure. Some attention is given to the justification of this by comparison of theoretically computed with experimental results. Author
