Abstract:
The breakdown of transparent polymers in the transmission channel of laser light across them is studied. The dependence of the variation of the angle of incidence of the fissures on the external stress, applied in the direction of the light axis, is analytically established and experimentally tested. Based on these results it is concluded that the breakdown of transparent polymers is produced by primary stresses. Tangential stresses in the breakdown process are two orders of magnitude lower than the values of the primary breakdown stresses. Author-PL
