Abstract:

A further increase in flight speeds entails a considerable rise in oil temperatures and thus a decrease of viscosities. Therefore, viscosity measurements in the range of oil temperatures occurring there are necessary. As no suitable commercial apparatus was available for this purpose, at first a test equipment for temperatures up to 330C 625F has been developed and tested in cooperation with the industries. In the following, the viscosities of some flight turbine oils and base oils have been measured within the range of 200 to 300C. Furthermore, experiments for an automatization of the test procedure at high temperatures started. Author
