Abstract:
A Free boundary problem is a boundary value problem for a partial Differential equation in a domain which is not fully known but must be also determined. This project is concerned with such problems when the PDE involved is of parabolic type. Problems of this type occur in practice in the study of change of phase e.g., evaporation, condensation, freezing, melting, sublimination, and are frequently called generalized Stefan problems. The specific objective was to study some special problems by reduction to equivalent integral equations, and to write a monograph on the subject. Author
