Abstract:

The use of the term climate as referring to aspects of the environment surrounding organizations is an example of the process of reasoning by analogy. An analogy is generally a good heuristic inasmuch as it suggests a multitude of detailed leads for exploration. Yet one cannot assume that the analogy is valid, nor that all the leads will prove fruitful. The purpose in the paper is to develop some of the more attractive leads to the point where testable theory is suggested and show how these ideas might be incorporated into system modeling. Author
