Abstract:

The dynamic friction coefficient and electrostatic charge of nylon fibers, from which the lubricants were removed by extraction with CCl4 increase with fiber travel rate. Purified naphthenic oils or polyalkyl-siloxanes applied as lubricants decrease the coefficient of friction values, while crude lubricants increase them. The rate of q dissipation from the fibers depends on the fiber type, air humidity, and impurities present in the fibers and the lubricants. Author
