Abstract:
A technique for the determination of parameter values in the equations modeling a physical system is described which uses a variation of the differential corrections curve-fitting technique and field data. Analytic closed-form solutions are not required, and a digital computer program exists for the mathematical solution to the equations of the model. Specific examples in atmospheric diffusion and a missile ballistic model show how to recover diffusion parameters and aerodynamic coefficients using field data and the computer numerical solution to the mathematical model.
