Abstract:
Improved pressure sensing and wave following systems for the investigation of the characteristics of the turbulent air stream in the vicinity of air-water interface were developed. A reappraisal of Miles inviscid theory was made. A carefully controlled experiment designed to match assumptions was performed by using the newly developed systems. The wave-induced pressure signal was extracted by using a waveform educator. The result, in terms of both pressure magnitude and phase angle, was summarized with the experimental results of others to compare with Miles inviscid theory. Author
