Abstract:

Life Cycle Costing LCC is an acquisition or procurement technique which considers operating, maintenance, and other costs of ownership as well as acquisition price, in the award of contracts for hardware and related support. The objective of this technique is to insure that the hardware procured will result in the lowest overall ownership cost to the Government during the life of the hardware. This interim guide is limited to the necessary guidelines for implementing LCC in the procurement of less than a complete weapon system in a competitive environment where the minimization of life cycle cost is the primary economic objective.
