Abstract:

The book discusses in detail the mechanical properties of high-temperature steels and alloys at room and high temperatures, the influence of alloying elements on structure and phase composition, heat-treatment and hot-forming methods, and the processes by which the alloys are produced. High-temperature alloys based on iron, nickel, and cobalt, as well as a number of refractory metals W, Mo, Nb, Ta, Re, Cr and their alloys are examined. Data are given on the stability of these alloys to high-temperature gas corrosion. Experience in the use of scale-resistant and high-temperature steels and alloys is summarized. Attention is also given to the most important foreign high-temperature steels and alloys. The properties of the alloys at cryogenic temperatures, their stability under nuclear bombardment, and their physical properties at various temperatures are described supplementary material on the chemicothermal and heat treatment of the steels and alloys in vacuum and in protective atmospheres are provided.
