Abstract:
Attepts are now being made to develop modeling techniques to scale the intensity of erosion in the laboratory. The paper deals with the quantitative aspects of the selection of modeling materials. The major problem is the relationship between the rate of erosion and the exposure time. The erosion rate-exposure time relationships for a spectrum of materials are correlated with a recently developed theory of erosion. This approach shows how one could relate model-prototype materials quantitatively. Practical feasibility and limitations are also discussed. Author
