A generalized set of differential equations was derived for modeling the interior ballistics of cartridge actuated devices in the hydrosphere. Hydrodynamic drag, hydrostatic pressure, buoyancy and cavitation are discussed. The hydrodynamic and hydrostatic forces acting on an underwater cartridge actuated device are explored by means of an interior ballistic model programmed on an analog computer. The computer results and computer program are included. The relative effects of hydrodynamic and hydrostatic forces on the performance of the device and the limiting operational depth of the device are indicated by the solutions of the model. Author
