Abstract:
The numerous advantages of using superconducting field windings in both ac and dc rotating machinery were enumerated and discussed by an international group of scientists and engineers at an afternoon session of the International Cryogenics Exhibition, Brighton, England. The general consensus is that such machines have so many obvious and important advantages that financial support for the development of such machines will be sure to be forthcoming in the next few years.
