Applying a recently described probe technique, the radial velocity distribution vr of a plasma-jet is measured. The influence of the Hall-term in generalized Ohms law j sub z X B on the result is considered and the limits of applicability of the v X B-method is discussed. In order to determine the current density in z-direction j sub z outside of the nozzle, the distribution of the azimuthal magnetic field is measured by means of a Hall-probe. With aid of Maxwells first equation j sub z is calculated from this. The influence of the thruster configuration outside of the nozzle on the velocity profiles is measured and discussed.
