Abstract:

The report is the last of a series of papers on reactions of alkoxyl radicals with nitric oxide, a topic related to the decomposition and combustion of organic nitrates. Quantitative data is now available for the kinetics of hydrogen abstraction by nitric oxide from methoxyl, ethoxyl, isopropoxyl, n-propoxyl and s-butoxyl, and for the recombination of these radicals. Determination of the activation energy for decomposition of the parent peroxide has enabled the heat of formation of the n-propyl radical to be calculated. Author
