Abstract:

An extended program of mosquito adulticiding field tests have been carried out in conjunction with Disease Vector Control Center, Alameda NAS. New experimental techniques which have been introduced including the Rotorod aerosol sampler and the fluorescent particle FP tracer for drop size measurements. Drop sizes can be measured quantitatively from 5 microns up. An aerosol generator producing 6 microns drops is effective two miles or more downwind with Dursban released from a truck at 7.5 ounces per 100 feet of line. Ground deposition is less than .000001 galacre. Mortality is directly related to airborne spray dosage. Spray transport is not ballistic atmospheric diffusion is controlling. Author
