Flush Electrostatic Probe in a Continuum Regime

The effects of area, geometry and applied bias upon the current collection of negatively biased flush electrostatic probes is experimentally investigated in a continuum regime. The effects of area, geometry and applied bias were found to be strongly interrelated and their influence on the collected ion current density very complex. It is found, in general, that the ion current increases with increasing probe bias but decreases with increasing probe area.
