On Two or More Dimensional Optimum Quantizers.

It is hard to compute the performance of an N-level K-dimensional optimum quantizer QN directly. The report studies the performance of QN more closely from the performance of Q primeN, a class of stationary quantizers. In this preliminary work, an analytical derivation of the algorithm for general Q primeN quantizers is given. A computer experimental study on the performance of Q primeN for two dimensional signal shows that it is possible to bound the performance of QN more closely from Q primeN. Author
