This report describes the concept and design plan for a self-contained, portable, 10 ampere, 28 volt D.C. Hydrazine-Air Fuel Cell System by Whiteley Industries, Inc. The design plan proposes a power system consisting of three fuel cell modules, a hydrazine fuel tank, electronic regulation and controls, and appropriate military type packaging case. The complete system comprises a unit having a net energy output density of 3840 watt-hourscubic foot, and a power density of 320 wattscubic foot. The delivered energy to weight ratio is 110 watt-hourspound of system including fuel charge, and the delivered energy to fuel ratio is 338 watt-hourspound of fuel. The system is designed such that long-life components as the tankage, regulator, controls, and air source are semi-permanently installed the three fuel cell modules are designed for minimum cost production and for quick removal and replacement without tools. The unit is designed as a basic power source with protective features and controls to permit charging of a wide range of standard battery configurations. Author
