The report is a summary of developments primarily directed toward characterizing internal displacements in solid propellant grains. Analytical procedures were developed for estimating the experimental accuracy of the X-ray detection technique in determining the distances between embedded particles. Calibrations demonstrated that magnification and length-dependent errors were actually less than those predicted analytically. Thus, measurements of behavioral phenomena could be attributed to material characteristics rather than test data errors. Author
