Various growth techniques and heat treatments have been investigated in order to produce high quality epitaxial films of Pb1-xSnxTe with controlled values of both the PbSn ratio and the PbSnTe ratio. The first primarily controls the value of the band gap, and the second, the value of the carrier concentration. Also included in the report are synthesis of the bulk, x-ray analysis, film thickness determination, Hall measurements, plastic mounting of the films and photoconductive properties. Author
