Rats were conditioned on differential reinforcement of low-rate DRL schedules. The number of responses emitted were reduced to near zero upon changing to variable time schedules which approximated the pattern and frequency of reinforcer delivery during DRL. These effects were similar to those observed when the response-reinforced dependency is removed following conditioning on other schedules of response dependent reinforcer presentation. Author
