Abstract:

The effects of tape recorder equalization techniques on digital communication are analyzed. The principal performance indicator is attainable bit error probability. A very general linear analytical model is presented and analyzed by conventional whitening filter techniques. An asymptotic predetection recording PCMFM case is analyzed. The results show a clear superiority of prerecord equalization over the conventional post record equalization method. Author
