Abstract:

An electron microscopic study has cast doubt on reports of 80-90 cell viability after programmed freezing methods, but lends support to the specific technique of programmed freezing of marrow for the purposes of osseous reconstruction. The reticular and blast cells which were observed to be viable, based on morphologic criteria, supports the theory that these elements of bone marrow are responsible for new bone formation. Author
