Driver behavior is one aspect of a complex technological system called automobile transportation. The author regards the automobile transportation system as a man-environment system and demonstrates that traits, applied to the automobile transportation system, make a case for adopting a total systems approach when design changes are recommended for any variable. A model is suggested which is adaptable to the evaluation-for-design purposes of an man-environment system. Author
