Pagination or Media Count:
Some aspects of the surface physics and chemistry of metals are examined in order to illustrate that metal surfaces are likely to be structurally, chemically, andor electronically distinct from the bulk of the crystal. The nature of a metal surface functioning as an electrode is also considered in terms of charge double layer effects, etc. Throughout, the relevance of surface properties to mechanical behavior is made explicit.
