Abstract:

In the first quarter the experimental approach which hopefully will lead to an efficient 1.5 micron photocathode was tested at 1.06 microns in InAs0.15P0.85-Cs20. Efficient response out to 1.1 microns was obtained. The 0.8 quantum efficiency obtained at 1.06 microns represented more than an order of magnitude improvement in yield over existing S-1 photosurfaces. The InAsP-Cs20 investigations were continued and lower-bandgap absorbing-materials were used in an effort to push the long-wavelength response further into the infrared. Low-work-function Cs3Sb surfaces were also investigated.
