Abstract:

A number of diethyl- and di-eta-butyldithiocarbamates of metals nickel, zinc, lead, copper, and cadmium were synthesized. A study was made of their comparative antioxidant activity. Under the conditions of the experiment these compounds completely inhibit the process of oxidation of paraffin-napthene hydrocarbons at 150 degrees. At 180 degrees the lead salts are the best antioxidants. Differential thermal analysis of these salts by means of a Kurnakov pyrometer showed that all the investigated salts begin to decompose at temperatures above 250 degrees. Author
