The specifications for the design of a Non-RDTE SystemsEquipment Contractor Furnished Equipments Identification and Monitoring System are presented. The absence of such a system similar to that in use for identifying systemsequipments in the RDTE cycle has resulted in contractor furnished equipment being installed on new ships without the Navy being properly prepared for the impact on personnel and training resources. The specifications make provisions for the development of an interim system which can be implemented quickly with a minimum of new reporting requirements or an optimum system which would be more costly but provide more lead time in the identification of emergent contractor furnished equipments.
