Abstract:

Fast-neutron activation cross sections for isotopes of ruthenium, palladium, indium, tin, and iridium have been measured relative to the 56Fen,p56Mn cross section. Powdered metallic samples of natural-isotopic-abundance Ru, Pd, In, Sn, and Ir were irradiated with 14.1 plus or minus 0.5 - MeV neutrons. The activities produced were determined by observing the gamma radiation with a GeLi detector. The experimental values obtained for n,2n and n,p reactions are compared with the predictions of recently developed empirical and semi-empirical equations, and the usefulness of these equations is discussed.
