During the third year of the grant research was carried out in the areas of CO2 laser technology, photoelectric detection in the near infrared, the helium-neon-cadmium laser system, mass spectroscopy of CO2NHe discharges, optical heterodyning, optically induced scattering in solids, and studies on mixtures of formic acid and nitrogen forming a CO2 laser by dissociation. In the sections of the report summaries of each phase is given. The measurement of gain profiles in CO2 lasers has lead to the construction of a high gain CO2 amplifier, and detailed knowledge of the generation of multiple beams in solids through optically induced phase gratings.
