It is shown that the photographic plate in satellite triangulation can be replaced by an electro-optical device without loss of accuracy. The higher sensitivity and the unique storage capability of the electro-optical scheme increases the number of available target satellites and the number of available stars for positioning. A scheme has been developed where the accurate positioning of the satellite is accomplished by the retrieval of two times from the record, independent of metric distortions.
