Abstract:

A method is derived for obtaining approximants to real-values, bounded functions ft over 0ortor infinity. The k,mth approximant to ft is of the form g sub kmt 1tSummation, mu1 to mSummation, n1 to k of the quantity a sub ns sub nu ts sub nut to the nth power, and it is constructed so that its expansions about t 0 and t infinity coincide with the expansions of ft for the first k terms about t 0 and the first m terms about t infinity. The method is useful for obtaining very accurate approximants to functions for computer applications and for inferring the behavior of physical quantities that are known only for very small and very large values of their arguments.
