Abstract:
Determination of the theoretical compression strength of reinforced materials, assuming that the Youngs moduli of the material components differ appreciably from each other. The stress components that are appreciably greater than the rest are assumed to act along the fibers of fiberglass-reinforced materials or along the layers of sandwich materials. The compression strength, expressed in the microcharacteristics of the material, is determined from the nonlocal changes in the microvolume. It is shown that failure occurs along the planes normal to direction of the compressive force. Author
