Abstract:
It is difficult to measure the rate-of-burn of thermoplastic fabrics because they tend to melt-drip or be self-extinguishing. But by supporting the fabric by stitching it with an inert, glass fiber thread, accurate measurements can be obtained. Results for untreated nylon and polyester fabrics tested with this method show a linear relationship between fabric weight and burning time. Author
